Father John V. Doyle School will be holding an Open House on Sunday, January 29, 2017, to celebrate the start of Catholic Schools Week 2017! The events are part of the nationwide celebration of Catholic education. The theme for the week – “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service” – highlights the school’s focus on faith development, academic excellence, and dedication to the community through service. These elements set Catholic schools apart from other educational options. They are why families make sacrifices to provide their children with a Catholic education.
Faculty and staff have been busy preparing many fun events for the week as well as service projects to give back to our community! Our schedule for the week is attached. We hope families will join us as we recognize the value of Catholic education and celebrate our students as they learn about their faith and the skills they need to succeed!
Father John V. Doyle School invites prospective students, their families, and ALL
others to join us at the 11:30am Mass on Sunday January 29, 2017. Following this Mass, we will host our Open House where families can learn about our educational programs and extracurricular activities. Students will conduct tours and staff will be on hand to accept applications for next year. We hope you will come over to visit our wonderful PreK through Grade 8 classrooms, and to meet our exceptional faculty and staff!
As always,
Thank You for your support of Father John V. Doyle School!
Mrs. Jae T. Smith

Years ago Barnes & Noble in Rhode Island created the My Favorite Teacher Contest for middle school and high school. It was a program to provide students an opportunity to voice their appreciation & recognize a teacher who has had positive impact on them - either personally or academically. Barnes & Noble Corporation loved the program and developed it into a national program. From Jan. 1st-March 1st - middle school and high school students can nominate a teacher for the My Favorite Teacher Contest. Students fill out the entry form - submit an essay, thank you letter or poem discussing how this teacher impacted them –whether academically or personally. Submissions are due by March 1st (mailing address in on the entry form).
There is a panel of judges who will read the submissions and rate each submission based on three different criteria. One winning teacher/student is chosen, along with two runners up. The Warwick Barnes & Noble store will
host a recognition ceremony honoring the winner and runners up - Will Gilbert, Rhode Show co-host usually serves as MC for the event. The winning teacher then goes onto the district contest - the winner of the district contest wins a $500 BN Gift card. That winner then goes onto the BN National contest with the other district winners. The national My Favorite Teacher winner receives $5,000 cash, their school receives $5,000 cash and the student who wrote the winning essay receives a $500 BN Gift Card and a NOOK device.
Please see attached entry form and info flyer for more information about the contest.
